I decided to do my Typography animation to the song :( by The Garden. I’ve been an avid fan of this particular band for years now, and I thought the simplicity of the vocals and silly sound effects would be fun to recreate through text animation. I want to use a slim serif font that effectively recreates the cadence and intonation of Wyatt’s voice and physical stature while also using a gritty, bold font for emphasis, reflecting the grunge aesthetic of the band in general. I want the overall mood of this animation to be cynical yet silly, reflecting the jester motif that the album holds up. The visuals for this piece will be kept to a minimum, only made for bolded words and phrases.
